Lotus Fire Zendo meets in Santa Cruz on Monday nights from 7pm to 8pm at the Pacific Cultural Center, 1307 Seabright Ave in the Yoga Studio by the parking area.
The group is lead by Antoinette Parekh, a Zen teacher in the Diamond Sangha tradition. There is a 40 minute meditation period (zazen) followed by a short talk and discussion. Discussion areas include meditation instruction, Buddhist teachings, and koan study (see About Us for more details) and often lead to questions about Zen practice, leading a compassionate life, realization and awakening, and how to respond to difficulties.
Antoinette Parekh has a rigorous Zen training of 14 years and was authorised to teach in the Diamond Sangha line by Daniel Terragno Roshi in 2009. Her main teachers have been Subhana Barzarghi Roshi (Australia) and Daniel Terragno Roshi (Chile and California, USA).
To assist in covering the cost of rent the fee is $5. Free childcare is available on request at a separate location.
Lotus Fire Zendo is dedicated to creating an open and inclusive environment for a diverse range of people. We wish to foster a community (sangha) that is diverse in gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, ability and interest.
Please feel free to contact Antoinette if you have any queries about attending or about Zen practice in general. She can be reached at:
